In philosophy, systems theory, science, and art, emergence occurs when an entity is observed to have properties its parts do not have on their own, properties or behaviors which emerge only when the parts interact in a wider whole. Abstract yet familiar, “Emergence” is a series of compositions with a visually kinetic feel. Like ripples on a pond. Like wind through grasses. Like waves breaking on a beach. The concept of emergence is movement, birth, creation. With a nod to the simple shapes of Mid-Century Modern and Rothko’s sectional works, we lose ourselves in the movement and texture but structure and form keep us rooted. Combining our passion of repurposing with our fascination of texture and the need to innovate, we can’t ignore the basic human need to touch and feel through our senses. Mankind needs to maintain a diverse balance of senses to live a full, well-rounded life. Fiber Mosaic14” x14” x 1.5
